About Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture at Brad Hill Wellness
Brad is a nationally Board certified and fully licensed acupuncturist serving the metro Washington DC area. With additional extensive study and practice in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Orthopaedic Acupuncture, Brad’s specialty is as a family practitioner, treating the whole person through a variety of modalities to address the underlying causes of disharmony and achieve optimal health and balance.
Addressing Symptoms, Treating the Whole Person
“In the old days the sages treated disease by preventing illness before it began, just as a good government or emperor was able to take the necessary steps to avert war. Treating an illness after it has begun is like suppressing revolt after it has broken out. If someone digs a well only when thirsty, or forges weapons only after becoming engaged in battle, one cannot help but ask: Aren’t these actions too late?” – The Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine), 240 BC
We can see the wisdom from more than two thousand years ago. Yet in modern culture we are taught to wait until there is a health crisis before we seek treatment. As the ancient sages knew well, it is much easier, and more effective, to prevent illness than it is to change pathology.
One of the wonders of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine is that the practitioner uses diagnostic techniques that uncover the disharmonies long before they become pathology. This allows us to actually practice preventive medicine, promote wellness and help you come to live more fully.
As owner of Brad Hill Wellness, Brad prefers to see his patients not only as they present themselves in illness, but also as they would be in perfect health and balance. Famed Professor J. R. Worsley taught Brad that the full discovery of their nature, unique in body, mind and spirit, becomes the purpose of this deeply effective treatment. A Message from Brad
It is my privilege to work with patients in support of their journey towards optimal health and wellness. While Five Element Acupuncture and the Meridian Balance Method have been the integral methods of my practice for more than 24 years, over time I have also included additional techniques, such as Chinese herbal medicine, to treat individuals more effectively.
