Acupuncture For Allergies

Woman blowing her nose

The beauty of spring is in full bloom and the warmer temperatures make outdoor activities very appealing. But for many, enjoying the outdoors comes at a price – seasonal allergies. There are a wide variety of traditional treatments available, from allergy shots to anti-histamines to nasal sprays and eye drops, but they don’t always work and may have undesirable side effects. As a result, many people just suffer through the season, which can be particularly challenging in the Washington, DC region. Acupuncture is an excellent way to help people alleviate all types of allergy issues, offering relief from symptoms without the potential side effects of medication.

The immune system’s reaction to a common substance is what’s known as an allergy. These substances are known as allergens and some of the most common include pet hair, mites, dust, ragweed, pollen, specific foods and certain chemical products. Allergy sufferers experience a wide range of symptoms from allergens, including nasal congestion, sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy throat, and red, itchy eyes. In some cases, rashes, sinusitis or headaches also occur.

Acupuncture can eliminate the response to allergens so that beyond simply gaining relief from allergy symptoms, these triggers don’t cause problems in the body in the first place, effectively “eliminating” the allergy. Chinese medicine is all about balancing the body and helping it stay strong and resilient. During allergy treatment, the Wei Chi – basically the defensive chi that’s part of your immune system and controlled by the lungs – is built up, thereby enhancing immunity strength from the core to support the elimination of the allergy.

Through BioSet allergy elimination, a needle-free muscle testing technique is conducted to identify the allergens causing a reaction.  The patient then receives a personalized acupuncture “clearing” treatment based on the identified allergens in order to eliminate the allergy. A single allergen can be eliminated in one treatment. When multiple allergens are identified, several treatments may be required to clear all the allergens. In most cases, once the allergy is eliminated, it does not return and the individual remains allergy free from the treated allergens.

Why continue to suffer from allergies ? Contact Brad Hill Wellness at 301-639-9759 to schedule a consultation.
